Accessing Access Medicine | Pharmacy | Physiotherapy eBooks

This McGraw Hill Medical resource includes AccessMedicine, AccessPharmacy, AccessPhysiotherapy and the AccessMedicine:Murtagh collection

It gives access to around 130 ebooks as well as:

  • quick reference tools
  • infographics
  • drug listings (US based)
  • case files
  • multimedia – podcasts and procedural videos

Finding an Access Medicine/Pharmacy/Physiotherapy eBook

If you have the details of the book you require:

  1. Search for the title of the book in Primo Search.
  2. Select the title of the resource from the search results to open the item record. 
  3. Select 'Access Medicine/Pharmacy/Physiotherapy' from the View Online options.

The instructions below refer to AccessMedicine but apply to all the collections.

Searching within Access Medicine

There are 3 search options in AccessMedicine:

 

 

Basic Search

Use the top search box to search by keyword across the AccessMedicine site. There is an option to search across All sites, which means you will search across all subscribed resources.

Results include:

  • book chapters
  • tables
  • case studies
  • quick reference resources
  • images
  • patient education resources
  • textbooks

The search results will highlight your search term where it appears, as well as showing the resource it appears within. 

At your results list, you will have options to search by title, author, or ISBN, rather than keyword, and to add an extra line of search.  You can also use the filters to narrow your search results by format, title, or topic.

 

Browse by Title 

Finds a specific eBook by title or subject.

 

Search within text

Searches for a specific topic within an individual textbook.

 

Once you have a specific eBook chapter open, there are a number of options at the top of each chapter:

  • Sections of the chapter
  • Download chapter pdf
  • Share - share to various social media accounts
  • Get Citation - options for a number of referencing styles
  • Search the book for specific keywords.

Copying and printing

For printing and copying sections or chapters of eBooks, there are a number of options available.

 

 

 

You can:

  • download a section of a book chapter in pdf
  • download a whole chapter of a textbook in pdf
  • print the chapter directly from the website.

You can also export citations to EndNote.

Text to speech | Read aloud options

There is a text-to-speech option that allows paragraphs to be read aloud using the ReadSpeaker option at the beginning of each paragraph.  ReadSpeaker contains a settings option - indicated by a cog icon - that allows you to select text highlighting as the paragraph is being read, and the reading speed.
