Using Leganto for Staff: Add tags and notes

Adding tags

Tagging items in your list enables you to communicate important information about a resource with Library staff. 

The tags available to communicate with the Library (not visible to students) are:

  • eReserve Digitisation: this tag will prompt Library staff to do one of the following:
  • Digitise a chapter or article held in the Library and make it available from your Leganto list.
  • Request a chapter or article from another library not available in our collection and make it accessible from your Leganto list.
  • Physical Reserve Required: this tag will prompt the Library to move the item to the Physical Reserve Collection.
  • Remove - No longer required: this tag will prompt Library staff to remove the item from your Leganto list.
  • Purchase suggestion: this tag will prompt Library staff to investigate purchasing option for an electronic version of the required resource.

Steps:

  1. Select the title of an item in your list.
  2. Select Add tag and select the tags you wish to add to the item
  3. The tags will be visible to Library staff immediately.GIF demonstration: How to add tags

You can also add bulk tags and notes by selecting the checkbox for multiple items, then selecting the preferred option:

Adding notes and descriptions

Steps:

  1. Select an item in your list.
  2. Select the Note for students field and enter your note. Within the note field you can hyperlink, bold, italicise, or underline the text: Adding notes to a citation in Leganto.The note automatically saves, so you can select out of the item when you finish.
  3. In the student view, public notes are visible in full without opening the item:Example of student note in a citation.

Steps:

  1. Click on the Add button and select New note.

  2. Enter a title and description for the note. Choose a section for the note to appear.
  3. Click the Add button and close the window:

  4. Drag the note to the top of the section if needed.

Steps:

  1. Click on the section menu (ellipsis) and select Edit section:

  2. Enter text into the Description field and click Save to close the form:View of section in edit mode
