Using Leganto for Staff: Create a new list

Steps to create a new list

Starting from your subject in Brightspace:

  • open the Resources dropdown menu
  • select Readings & Resources (Leganto).

Access your Readings and Resources list from the Resources menu in your subject site

Or use this link to enter the Leganto site directly.

You will have the option to create a new list but, before you do, it is essential that you check for an existing list for your subject. If you are unsure about this process, please contact your Library Faculty Team.

In Brightspace, you have the option of selecting the 'Create a new list' tile or the 'Access existing list' tile. If you don't find an existing list, select 'Create a new list':

Create a new list or Access existing list

In the Leganto platform, you can search for an existing list by selecting 'All lists' in the dropdown and using the search bar. If you don't find an exisitng list, select 'Create list'.

Search in Leganto for an existing list or select create list

Name list and link to course

Name your reading list consistently with the name of the subject as listed in the Charles Sturt Handbook.

  • Single subjects = 'subject code - description'.

e.g. EEB427 - Leading Early Childhood

  • Paired subjects with the same subject description = 'subject code/subject code - description'.

 e.g. ASC413/ASC513 - Equine Disease Prevention.

If the descriptions of paired subjects differ, use the naming convention above and determine a reasonable alternative list title.

Link the new list to the course by searching for your subject code and selecting all course offerings.

Choose a List name and Link to course

Select and edit a section template

Our most commonly-used template includes the following sections:

  • Prescribed text
  • eBook etiquette
  • Highly recommended texts
  • Topics 1-12.

However, once you have created your list, you should edit the sections to suit the structure of your subject delivery.
