OER Project Management: Approval to publish

Guidance for creating or adapting OER at Charles Sturt, centred on Pressbooks but applicable to other formats.

Obtain approval to publish

warningIf you have created your OER using the library’s Pressbooks platform subscription, it is essential to submit your finalised and edited work to the Library for review and approval before it can be published.

At this stage, the library will conduct a thorough examination of your OER to ensure that it meets the necessary standards for publication. This process includes reviewing the content, checking that all formatting is consistent and accessible, and ensuring that metadata, copyright, and licensing conditions are correctly applied. These checks ensure:

  • Copyright and licensing compliance
  • Accessibility guidelines have been met
  • An appropriate peer review process has been followed

By submitting your work to the library for review, you help ensure that it complies with the university’s requirements for OER publication, making sure that the resource is both legally compliant and professionally presented.

Once the library completes its review and confirms that all conditions have been met, the final approval for publication will be requested from the University Librarian.

The time it takes to review an OER will depend on a number of factors, please allow up to 4 weeks for the QA process to be completed.
