Introduction

Welcome to the MID441 Research Skills Guide, a guide for Midwifery students at Charles Sturt University.

This guide is designed to introduce you to finding and using scholarly resources for your assessment tasks, and includes sections on:

  • Getting Started: topic analysis, interpreting citations, identifying sources of information, and searching
  • Using Primo Search to find known items and information on a topic
  • Using Journal Databases for further searching for journal articles and other similar material
  • Other Resources: Google Scholar, UpToDate and Web Resources
  • Evaluating, writing and referencing the information you have found

You can use this guide any way you like: work through it step-by-step, or dip in and out as required. Take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the content so you know what's there.
