MID441 Research Skills Guide: Other Databases for Midwifery

Maternity & Infant Care Database (MIDIRS)

The Maternity & Infant Care Database covers specific topics related to the care of women and infants, including antenatal health issues, childbirth education, complementary therapies, HIV, infant feeding, international maternity, neonatal and intensive care, screening, and sudden infant death and infant mortality.

It's available in the Ovid platform, which, although it looks slightly different to the EBSCO databases, you will get used to!

The MIDIRS database is primarily an index. Some items are available in full-text but, for the most part, to find the full-text of items you will need to use the Find it at CSU links.

See the video at right for assistance with searching in the Ovid platform, or talk to your Librarian. The Ask A Librarian forum on your subject site is a good place for this.

Other useful databases

Here's a selection of other databases that may be helpful in midwifery. All of these are also on the Ovid platform, so will start to look familiar to you!
