What is referencing?

Plagiarism is taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as your own. In your studies, you must not plagiarise.

Turnitin is a plagiarism-checking service which checks your work for unoriginal content and improper citation. It's used by Charles Sturt University and you can use it yourself to check your own work.
