Nodes let you gather related materials in one place so you can look for emerging patterns and ideas.

A Node is a collection of references about a specific theme, topic or a theory.

Node Structure

It is often worth setting up a Node Structure before you start coding. This structure can be reviewed and changed as you analyse your literature and data.

Here are some suggestions for possible Nodes:

  • Abstract
  • Aim, Main Idea(s) RQs, Hypothesis
  • Definitions
  • Epistemology
  • Findings, Results
  • Gaps - possibility for further research
  • Good quotes
  • Limitations of study
  • Location of study
  • Research approach
  • Research methods
  • Research strategy
  • Study participants
  • Theories used

Be aware that these are just suggestions to make you start thinking about what you want to look for.
