The Library offers a flexible, scalable, and student-centred range of support options to develop students' digital, information and AI literacies. Support is tailored to the subject’s level, assessment requirements, and course context.
InfoQuest: Self-paced foundational module
InfoQuest is a modular, self-paced resource embedded in Brightspace that helps students build core information and AI literacy skills.
It’s ideal for:
- 100/200 level or foundation postgraduate subjects
- Subjects with general skills needs
- Reducing the need for repetitive live classes
- Supporting consistency across multiple subjects
InfoQuest can be:
- Integrated in subject sites as required
- Used as a prerequisite for assessment tasks
- Complemented with subject-specific activities or discussions
Research Skills Guides (RSGs)
Research Skills Guides are online learning resources that help students develop research strategies relevant to their discipline and assessment tasks.
There are two main formats:
- Course-level RSGs: Support multiple subjects across a course, ideal for structured and scaffolded skills development
- Subject-level RSGs: Customised for standalone or specialised subjects with unique research requirements
These guides:
- Can be linked directly from Brightspace subject sites
- Include videos, tutorials, and examples tailored to student needs
- May be paired with quizzes, tasks, or in-class activities
Recorded content and instructional sessions
To support deeper or subject-specific skills, we may be able to offer recorded or live instructional sessions tailored to your students and assessments.
Live or synchronous support:
- Delivered via Zoom or during intensive schools
- Targeted micro-sessions (15–30 minutes) to support key stages of assessment
- Opportunities for real-time Q&A and interaction
Recorded support:
- Reusable videos focused on key skills (e.g., database searching, AI use, evaluating sources)
- Ideal when live attendance is limited or asynchronous access is preferred
- Segmentable by topic and aligned with assessment tasks
Choosing the right format
We work collaboratively with teaching staff to recommend the most sustainable and effective support based on:
- Subject level and learning outcomes
- Assessment needs
- Course structure and existing support
- Student needs and engagement levels
Not sure what support is the best fit? Your Faculty Librarian can help you assess needs and suggest the most appropriate format.
