The Information and Digital Literacies GLO supports students to engage critically and ethically with information, digital tools and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), throughout their academic and professional lives. This GLO reflects the interconnected skills graduates require in a digitally mediated world.
Information and digital literacies are foundational to academic integrity, evidence-based reasoning, lifelong learning and graduate employability. As part of this GLO, students will:
- Develop AI literacy to responsibly use, evaluate and critique generative AI tools and outputs
- Recognise and manage bias, mis/disinformation, and algorithmic influence
- Apply appropriate tools and methods to locate, create, and communicate information
- Demonstrate ethical use of information and technology, including copyright and citation standards
- Engage in online environments with confidence, collaboration and adaptability
This GLO fosters agile, reflective learners equipped to participate in a global digital society and knowledge economy.
Drawing on international frameworks, including the Association of College & Research Libraries’ Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, the Jisc building digital capabilities framework, the Digital Education Council AI Literacy Framework and the University of Adelaide Artificial Intelligence Literacy Framework, this resource outlines strategies that will assist your students to engage with information, digital and AI literacy concepts, empowering them to apply these skills in their studies and beyond.
