Research Metrics, Impact and Engagement: Identifiers - Used in Research Evaluation

Research Impact: : Updated Where to Publish information

Identifiers

DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) are assigned to journal articles, datasets, software, images and other research outputs. The DOIs enables an item to be linked to an author profile such as ORCiD.

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier) provides you with a unique, 16-digit ID.

It is a lifelong digital identifier that

  • stays with you through your whole career.
  • connects you with your works, awards, and affiliations.
  • helps prevent mistaken identity.

Scopus Author ID is automatically generated if you have an article indexed by Scopus.

With your Scopus Author ID you can:

  • Check your citation metrics, such as citation counts and h-index.
  • Link to your ORCID profile and import your publications from Scopus to ORCID.
  • Link your CRO profile with Scopus, so that publications indexed in Scopus are automatically imported into your CRO profile.

A Researcher ID  is generated if you have at least one publication indexed in the Web of Science.

You can create your own profile using Researcher ID.

You can:

  • Check your citation metrics, including citation counts and h-index.
  • Link to your ORCID profile
  • Track metrics of your reviewing and editing activities.

For further information on creating and maintaining profiles, see Researcher Profile.
