EndNote: Uninstalling EndNote

Uninstall EndNote on a Windows™ computer

If you already have a previous version of EndNote installed on your personal computer (version X9 or earlier):

  • Open the Control Panel (via the Windows 'start' button on the bottom left)
  • Select 'Programs & Features'
  • Find and select EndNote in the list of programs
  • Click on the 'Uninstall' option at the top of the page

You can then download and install the new version of EndNote.

Uninstall Endnote on a Macintosh™ computer

If you already have a previous version of EndNote installed on your personal Mac computer (version X9 or earlier):

  • Open the existing version of the EndNote application
  • Select EndNote from the toolbar
  • Select Customizer
  • Click on Uninstall
  • When the process is finished, go to Finder > Applications
  • Drag the EndNote application folder to Trash

 

You can then download and install the new version of EndNote.
