PHC101 Research Skills Guide: Assessments

In this guide

This guide is designed to give you important information literacy skills, which you will use not only for PHC101, but for all your research tasks as you progress through your studies. These skills will also benefit your future career as a paramedic due to ongoing consideration of best practice.

You will not always need to perform each step in this guide for any particular assessment task. Knowing which parts are relevant and which are not is an important skill in itself!

Assessment 2 - Module 3: Person-centred care essay

Your Assessment item 2 is a written essay, and sections of the marking criteria require you to make use of credible reference materials from a wide variety of reliable sources.

For this task you will find all sections of this guide handy. The steps in this guide on the Identify and Find tabs will help you locate suitable information resources. The information on the Evaluate page will help you to ensure the sources of information you have found are of high quality.

Future assessment

Don't forget to come back to this guide when you are getting started with other assessments in the future. As you write each essay, you might like a refresher on:

  • Topic analysis
