Open Educational Resources: Creating OER

Library support for OER adaptation or development

The Library can assist academic authors in publishing open textbooks for current or future Charles Sturt University subjects using the Pressbooks publishing platform.

Pressbooks facilitates the creation, adaptation, and sharing of accessible and interactive OER, including Open Textbooks.

To see examples of locally developed OER check out the Library's recently published titles:

  • Technical advice, support and training resources to facilitate the use of the Pressbooks platform.
  • Support for authors to manage book projects.
  • Guidance on copyright and licensing.
  • Help to complete frontmatter and metadata.

Author responsibilities:

  • Manage book project(s) following best practice guidelines (with library support as required).
  • Create and add content to your Pressbooks shell.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with copyright and licensing requirements.
  • Understand and adhere to accessibility standards.

  • Regularly update the Library on project progress.

The CAUL (Council of Australian University Librarians) Open Educational Resources Collective Publishing Workflow provides step-by-step guidance for authors.
