ELS503 Research Skills Guide: 3.3 Let's try a search in Primo Search

2.3 Let's try a search in Primo Search

 Let's try a search in Primo Search

Look at the "Challenges" preceding Assignment 1 of ELS503.

Choose some keywords from the Challenge you have selected.

As an example - imagine we are looking for some articles about league tables and education in Australia.

  • You could search for key words/phrases such as: league tables, ranking, achievement
  • You could then combine this with other concepts, such as: education, schools
  • You could also combine both of these with Australia
 Search concepts  Keywords and synonyms
 1st search concept  league tables, ranking, achievement, school improvement
 2nd search concept  education, schools
 3rd search concept  australia

 In the window below, type some keywords for the challenge that you have selected.

Notice the number of results you get? Primo often gives large result lists.

Try using the refiners on the left to refine your search:

  • Limit to books or articles to see what is available in each format;
  • Limit the publication date to the most recent material.
