IELTS - The International English Language Testing System

If you are planning to migrate to an English-speaking country, immigration authorities may ask you to provide evidence of your English language ability. IELTS - the International English Language Testing System - is accepted as proof of English language proficiency for study, work and migration in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK.

There are two tests available. The test you choose should be based on what it is you want to do:

IELTS Academic - usually used for entry into university
IELTS General Training - used for migration purposes.

There is an option to take the IELTS tests online via IELTS on computer.

Preparation materials, including free practice tests for speaking, reading, and writing at general and at academic levels, are available at IELTS prepare.
