What Are Standards?

Standards are published documents setting out specifications and procedures to ensure products, services and systems are safe and reliable. Below are some key sites for Australian and International standards organisations. 


Accessing full text Standards in Standards Online

To access the full text of a Standard, you will need to register:

  1. Search Standards Online as normal.
  2. The first time you go to View a Document, you will be prompted to complete a New Registration OR Sign In with an existing registration.
  3. Select New Registration
  4. Enter your first name, last name and email address. The email address you provide will become your username.
  5. Select Verify my email address.
  6. Check your email for one from (check your spam/junk mail folder if it does not appear in your inbox).
  7. Enter the 5 digit code that is in the email you receive.
  8. Select Submit.
  9. Create a password following the character requirements.
  10. Sign in using your email address and password.
  11. The next time you try to view a document from a Standards record, you will be prompted to enter your email address and password to access the full text.
  12. When the document is ready for viewing you will get options to open the document of save the file.
