GEO204 Research Skills Guide: Science Direct

Using Science Direct

ScienceDirect is an Elsevier database of scientific content from journals and books, which gives comprehensive coverage of all areas of the sciences and social sciences.

Open the ScienceDirect database and try searching for the keywords – "soil color" AND organic matter AND effect* entered as in the example below (AND is a boolean operator and double quotations marks "" are used to search for phrases).

Alternatively, you could try searching for the key concepts you have identified from your own research topic.

  • Look at the HTML and PDF links to access the full text of the article. If you cannot find a link to the full text of an article it may be held in another database. Follow the Find it at CSU links to check if you can access the article in another database.
