Welcome to the GEO314/513 Research Skills Guide.

This guide is designed to make your research process easier. It should help you to find useful scholarly resources for your assignments.

It is structured in five main sections:

• Getting Started: help with topic analysis, interpreting citations, identifying sources of information, and searching
• Using Primo Search to find known items and information on a topic
• Finding Journal Articles in journal databases, using citation databases and Google Scholar
• Grey Literature refers to research that is unpublished or published in non-commercial form, eg government reports
• Evaluating and using the information you have found for your assessment.

You can work through this guide at your own pace, or dip into it as needed.
