What is the Regional Archives?

Charles Sturt University Regional Archives collects and maintains three distinct focus areas:

  • Charles Sturt University corporate records
  • Riverina and Murray State archives (MHNSW)
  • Riverina and Murray regional archives

The collection includes records deposited and donated by local and regional businesses, community organisations, agricultural and pastoral bodies, religious agencies, politicians, interest groups, sporting bodies and individuals. To complement this collection, we also have an excellent collection of resources to support genealogical research pertinent to Australia, particularly New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.

The Regional Archives repository provides research benefits by giving access to original historical documents and information that cannot be located elsewhere. For more information on Regional Archives, please visit our website, here

How to use this guide

The menu to the left shows research and discipline areas active at Charles Sturt University. Keep in mind that these lists are not exhaustive of what the Regional Archives holds; there are some accession finding aids not viewable to the public, and there are some accessions not relevant to research or discipline areas at Charles Sturt University. When ready:

  • From the menu, select a faculty to discover curated lists of accessions relevant to your research or discipline.
  • Select a tab based on your discipline area or interest, then select a link to show a list of accessions related to that topic.
  • Select the accession link to open the record page. From an accession record page you can view information about the collection, then select Download Accession List to view the accession finding aid.
  • When you have identified a record you would like to view, come visit our Search Room on the Wagga Wagga campus of Charles Sturt University or contact a reference archivist from our Contact Us page.
