JST495 Research Skills Guide: Home

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the JST495 Research Skills Guide.

This guide was designed to make your research process easier.

We will cover the best way to:

  • Identify keywords and search strategies for your assessment
  • Find relevant resources using the Library and the Internet
  • Evaluate your results for suitability
  • Use the information in your assessment

You can use this guide any way you like; read it front to back or dip in and out as required. I recommend taking a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the content so you know what's in there in case you find yourself stuck later on. You may like to refer to this guide in other subjects that you study.

Keep in mind that research is not a linear process and may not always follow a particular order of steps.

Most important of all, use your librarians! If you need help with anything library or research related, get in touch with the library.

Wishing you the best for the study ahead.

Search Skills Demonstration

We have also made a JST495 Class Recording for you to give you an overview of the library services and how to search for information.

You'll find a list of chapter markers on the left hand side to allow you to move through the recording.

Good news!

Your textbook is available online through the library!

However our access to your textbook is limited. Follow the best practice in the video below to ensure you have access to what you need without disadvantaging other students in your subject.
