Books@Ovid provides access to a large collection of health related eBooks, including the subject areas: nursing, dentistry and pharmacy.
Books@Ovid is a DRM free platform, this means there are fewer limitations applied to books in this collection. For example, this collection allows unlimited simultaneous users.
eBooks from this collection can be read online, but cannot be downloaded to be read offline.
When you link to an eBook in Books@Ovid from Primo Search you will be taken directly to the book's home screen.
A contents list appears on the left hand side of the screen, use this listing to navigate within the book and read online.
From this view of the eBook you can access a number of features using links that appear above the text and contents listing of the book:
Highlighting/Annotating - Highlights and annotations cannot be added directly to text in Ovid. However annotations can be added to chapters that have been added to My Project folders. Once a section has been added to your My Project folder, as per instructions above, and you are logged in to your personal Ovid account, access it by clicking on the My Account link, then select My Workspace, select Project/Folder, add annotations by clicking on the Annotate link that appears below the saved chapter's details.
The Book Reader version of an eBook can be accessed by clicking on the View in Book Reader link that appears toward the top right hand side of a book's home screen.
The Ovid Book Reader enables access to a number of features such as the ability to download & save chapters as PDFs.
To navigate through the book use the next and previous arrows, or use the expandable table of contents, that appears toward the left of the screen.
Search within the book feature is accessible from the Search icon that appears above the table of contents.
Access more options by clicking on the Tools icon that appears toward the top right of the screen.
Use the Tools Menu to:
Expandable Images - Click on any images or figures on the page you are viewing within the Book Reader and they will open up in a separate window:
