Vancouver Style

Endnote

EndNote is a bibliographic management software provided to you free by Charles Sturt Library. You can use it to:

  • store and manage references
  • store and manage PDF copies of articles
  • insert in-text citations and reference-list entries in an essay.

For more information about how to use EndNote, go to the EndNote Information Page.

EndNote and WesternSydU style file

In order to use EndNote effectively, you should be familiar with Western Sydney's Vancouver Style.

You can download the Vancouver WesternSydU style file from the WSU Endnote Library Guide

Follow these steps to start using Vancouver Western SydU as your output style:

  1. Download the Vancouver WesternSydU style file
  2. Double-click the file that you downloaded, to open it in EndNote
  3. Select File > Save As
  4. Remove the word Copy from the style name
  5. Select Save
  6. Select File > Close Style

Journal Title Abbreviation

Journal names are abbreviated in Western Sydney's Vancouver Style. You can search for the journal title (or ISSN) using the NLM catalogue, and use the NML Title Abbreviation.

You can also import the Journal Term List into EndNote. Endnote will then display the citation correctly. Have a look at the video: "Journal Names.". Follow the instructions in the video. You need to import the term list called Medical.txt
