Charles Sturt has signed up for two new Open Access Publishing agreements.

In addition to the existing Open Access Publishing agreements signed in 2023, new agreements effective from 1 January 2024 have been signed with the scholarly publishers listed below:

• Association of Computing Machinery (ACM)
• American Psychological Association (APA)
• Cambridge University Press
• CSIRO Publishing
• Elsevier
• Oxford University Press
• SAGE
• Springer Nature
• Taylor & Francis
• Wiley

Please note that not all journal titles are eligible under the Elsevier and SAGE agreements and that publishing caps will also apply.

Each agreement has different conditions; refer to the "Further details and information for authors" links for the specific details of each agreement.

To qualify for inclusion in one of the Charles Sturt Open Access Publishing agreements, you must be the corresponding author. You must list Charles Sturt University as your affiliation and use your csu.edu.au email address.

Author publishing workflow

1. Submit your article to an eligible journal, as the Charles Sturt corresponding author you will be recognised by your institutional email address or by specifying your Charles Sturt University affiliation. Ensure you always use your Charles Sturt email address (ending in "@csu.edu.au"). In some instances, the journal will require additional identification information such as a postal address

2. Article progresses through peer review

3. When you receive notification that your article has been accepted you will be given the option to select Open Access publishing with no transactional Article Processing Charges

4. Your article is published Open Access under a Creative Commons licence

Ensure an Open Access Publishing agreement applies to your article

Without an Open Access Publishing agreement, you may be charged an article processing charge (APC). This can range anywhere up to $4500 per article (and occasionally more). In 2024, Charles Sturt will continue offering the Tri-Faculty Open Access Publishing scheme.
