Read & Publish Agreements

Through the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) consortia, Charles Sturt Library has entered into several Read and Publish agreements with major academic publishers, including Cambridge University Press, CSIRO, Oxford University Press, Springer Nature and Wiley.

The lists of Read and Publish agreements available to Charles Sturt authors in 2022* is available in the box below.

Note that Charles Sturt has not entered into all of the agreements - please refer to the publisher Title lists provided under Inclusions via the links below to see the Charles Sturt-specific agreements.

Each agreement has different conditions; refer to the "Further details and information for authors" links for the specific details of each agreement.

Author publishing workflow

1. Submit your article to an eligible journal, as the Charles Sturt corresponding author you will be recognised by your institutional email address or by specifying your Charles Sturt University affiliation. Ensure you always use your Charles Sturt email address (ending in ""). In some instances, the journal will require additional identification information such as a postal address

2. Article progresses through peer review

3. When you receive notification that your article has been accepted you will be given the option to select Open Access publishing with no transactional Article Processing Charges

4. Your article is published Open Access under a Creative Commons licence

Ensure Read & Publish applies to your article

As the corresponding author, list Charles Sturt University as your affiliation and use your email address.

Without a Read & Publish agreement, you may be charged an article processing charge (APC). This can range anywhere up to $5000 per article (and occasionally more). In 2022, Charles Sturt introduced the Tri-Faculty Open Access Publishing Scheme. See our webpage for more information on APC funding distinct from the Read and Publish agreements.
