EndNote X9: Sharing your library

Sharing your library

EndNote enables you to share groups of records, or your entire Library.

Groups of records can be shared via EndNote Online with either Read, or Read & Write access. PDF files or other files attached to references in shared groups are NOT shared with other users.

Sharing your entire library can be done with colleagues using EndNote X8.xx or later:

  • a library owner can only sync one EndNote library, so only one library can be shared with others (or synced to the owner’s other computers or iPad)
  • the entire library is synced to all recipients, including attachments, the library will take up as much space on the recipient’s computer as it does on the owner’s computer and can be used off- line
  • the shared library can only be accessed through the File > Open Shared Library command in EndNote
  • anyone sharing the library will have full access to the library - they can add, change, or delete references and attachments AND these changes will be reflected in the owner’s library after syncing
