Using Leganto: For Staff: About Leganto

Manage Readings and Resources

Leganto makes it easy to create, manage and evaluate the readings for your subject by:

  • collating all subject readings in one place;
  • organising the readings by topic or custom arrangement;
  • allowing you to collaborate with colleagues to build a reading list that can be used by all cohorts, session to session

Review readings and resources before each session to make sure that they are still required and relevant. You can add and remove items anytime. Ensuring your reading list is up to date and accessible to students is recommended by TEQSA:

"In relation to the quality of the resources, TEQSA will need to be satisfied that the resources are:

  • relevant to the expected learning outcomes
  • appropriate to the level of study
  • authoritative, and up to date."

Access your list

Follow the steps in this guide to access, edit and finalise Readings and Resources (Leganto) lists.

Important: Check for an existing list before creating a new list. If you need to build a list from scratch, jump to Create a List.

Access your list:

  • via the subject site and select the Readings and Resources tool link in the left navigation menu; or
  • enter Leganto directly and search for a list by subject code (you must be a collaborator on the list for it to appear).

If you are having trouble finding a list, please ensure:

  1. the Leganto tool link has been added
  2. the cohort is associated
  3. you are listed as a collaborator.
Please note:

If the list has a (China Only) identification inside the title, do not use it. This is designated for our international delivery and applies only to our overseas cohorts.

Instead, please contact your faculty library team and they can assist you.

Library staff are here to help

Academic Staff are responsible for their reading lists, however, Leganto is a Library-managed system, which means our staff are part of the package!  Via Leganto we can:

  • Help identify broken links and other list errors
  • Facilitate the management of copyright compliance
  • Process purchase requests for subject resources

If you have any questions about your Readings and Resources list, please contact your Library Faculty Team.

How we'll help

  • Training in how to use the Leganto system
  • Advice on how to organise lists and keep readings/resources manageable, updated and engaging, in line with our reading list service
  • Assist in adding items to lists
    • Ability to do this depends on the workload/availability of Library staff at the time of requests. Requests made close to the start of new sessions may not be completed in time.
Guidance Note: Library Support

On a case by case basis library support around Leganto may be provided to teaching staff. This support may include creating lists and adding 10-20 subject reading items. Further training support may then be provided to enable teaching staff to manage their subject Readings and Resources list.

Subject reference lists are not included in this support.
