EndNote: Direct export

Direct export instructions for EndNote

Web of Science

  • Do your search as normal and select your preferred references
  • Click on the drop down menu beside the Add to Marked List button and Choose Save to EndNote desktop

  • Click Send

  • A dialogue box will appear, close the box
  • Once the file has downloaded it will be listed at the bottom of the screen

  • Click on the file to open it
  • If it does not open EndNote automatically, click Open to download the reference to EndNote

NB:

  1. If you are using a Macintosh computer you may be prompted to choose an application (EndNote) and you may be prompted to select the  EndNote Library you wish to use
  2. If you are using the Firefox browser it will be listed in the top tool bar

WEB OF SCIENCE DATABASES

Web of Science allows export in batches of up to 500

  • Add your search results to a Marked List
  • Select Add to Marked List
  • Select Records, from 1 - x ,   x = the total number of required records (limited to 2000)
  • Go to Marked List
  • Select in batches of 1-500 at a time
  • Select bibliographic requirements
  • Select Export to EndNote Desktop (or your preferred application) to run the export.
  • To output more than 500 records, use the Records X to Y option and enter 501 to 1000, 1001 to 1500, and so on.
